Bringing the Australian Bush Indoors

Green is the easiest colour to get wrong. Reach for the wrong one and a calm room turns tropical. The Australian palette is greyer, dustier and infinitely more restful — think the underside of a gum leaf rather than a palm frond.

Start grey, not bright

Begin with eucalyptus — a green so soft it almost reads as a neutral. Layer fern and forest only as deep accents, in a single cushion or vase.

Pair with raw materials

Greens love company they can lean on: undyed linen, pale timber, speckled stoneware. Keep metals warm and matte.
